Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Parish Family:

We will celebrate the 75th birthday of Good Shepherd Parish in June 2026, and 2027 will mark the 50th anniversary of our church on Trindle Road. Now is the time to celebrate and look to the future. Our church renewal and asset restoration project has been a several-year process led by our Parish Pastoral Council, Finance Council, and Project Steering Committee. The decision to bring Jesus to the center at Good Shepherd Church initiated other renewal and refurbishment efforts for our church and buildings. Focus groups and three information sessions open to all parishioners provided important feedback. Bishop Senior reviewed and approved the project. We are making swift progress in our church renewal and asset restoration project.   Thank you to our Project Steering Committee for their leadership and guidance: Craig Shrift, Chairperson, Alex  Anastasio, Bryan Anthony, Veronica Forbes, Charlie Gerow, Katie Gleeson, Carl Knaub, Mary Lacey, Jeanne Long, Tom McGowan, Michael Nowakowski, Joe O’Neil, Rosanne Placey, Bob Ribic, Mary Schaeffer, Ronda Scullen, Joelle Shea, Dan Thompson, Kathleen Trovel, Alex Weakland, Barb Zabady.

October 25/26 is our Now is the Time Weekend. In preparation for this kick-off, parishioners will receive a special mailing this week about the project.  At Masses next weekend, we will share important details about this wonderful initiative. After Masses, everyone will be invited to visit our Now is the Time display in the Parish Hall Lobby for additional information about the project.  The display will include samples of elements we will be using. Members of the Steering Committee will be on hand to answer questions. The community will also be able to walk through this display at our Fall Family Fest that Sunday afternoon.

Sunday, October 26, from 1:00 pm. to 5:00 p.m. is our Fall Family Fest.  The reiteration of our Oktoberfest this year will feature Food Trucks, a Beer Garden, Raffle Baskets, BINGO, 50/50 Drawings, the Cake Wheel, Broadcast of NFL Games, a Bounce House,  and an amazing indoor Halloween Forest featuring lots of kids’ activities.  It’s going to be a fun-filled afternoon.  We look forward to spending this day as a parish family and welcoming the local community to be part of this special day.  Be sure to invite your family, neighbors, coworkers, and friends. A big thank you to everyone who is working so hard to make this a wonderful day and who have already donated themed baskets and signed up to provide cakes for the Cake Wheel.   There is still time to help.  Call the parish office this week to find out how.

Next weekend will be a special celebration of the vitality of Good Shepherd and the good news and good works that we are accomplishing together. So please join us for this really big weekend!

Love and prayers,
Father Neil Sullivan
