June 7, 2026 • The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
Dear Parish Family:
Today is Corpus Christi Sunday. In Latin, corpus means body and Christi means of Christ. This special feast happens every year on the second Sunday after Pentecost. But this year, it takes on a special significance. The Body and Blood of Christ is the Eucharist. The word Eucharist comes from a Greek word that means thanksgiving.
This Corpus Christi Sunday is an extraordinary opportunity for us to offer thanksgiving to God for the gift of our parish. Good Shepherd Parish was founded on June 1, 1951. The first Sunday Mass was celebrated at the Hill Theatre on Market Street on June 13, 1951.
So on this Corpus Christi Sunday, we give thanks for that more than ever in Good Shepherd’s 75th year. 75 years of faith, sacrifice, worship, and community. 75 years of baptisms, weddings, funerals, first Communions, confirmations, and countless prayers offered within this parish family. 75 years of teaching, serving, gathering, and growing.
Today’s Eucharistic Procession is a magnificent way to express our thanks and gratitude as we follow Jesus literally back to our roots. It is a way to honor the journey the good people of Good Shepherd have made over the past 75 years, and ask God’s blessing on our pilgrimage that continues. Here’s what today will look like:
12:45 p.m. Procession forms in the back parking lot of the Church.
