Dear Parish Family:
Drum roll please … Our new boiler will be installed this week just in time for the autumn weather. It will be installed by Spangler Boyer Mechanical, Inc. The installation will also include isolation valves and an air separator. These necessary upgrades will support our total HVAC system and minimize costly repairs while maximizing pump function and efficiency.
The boiler in the rectory must have heard that our old boiler in the church has given out because earlier this summer it died too. The central air system is also approaching end of life. We are replacing them both with an efficient heat pump. This allowed us to change heating sources from oil to electric, which is considered a greener option but will save us money in the long run. Over the last couple of weeks, we have been updating the rectory bathrooms. All the second floor bathrooms from 1977 had significant plumbing issues that range from minor leaks to damages to the ceilings on the first floor.
This work on the rectory was necessary but also timely. There will be three priests living in the rectory beginning October 7. Father Edward Quinlan has been named Vicar General for the Diocese and will be in residence here at Good Shepherd. We are delighted to welcome Father Quinlan back to Good Shepherd who was here mid to late 1970s.
Grace and peace!
Father Neil Sullivan
